Tuesday in Yerushalayim!

YTT took to the streets today as a wave of green shirts swarmed the shops in Geulah, Meah Shearim and Ben Yehuda. We haggled with the sometimes disgruntled or amused shopkeepers to get the best presents for our loved ones at home. After multiple trips to the wood shop, jewelry store, and sweater place, we left with smiling faces, bulging bags and thinner wallets. The 20 shek that Swerly gave us for lunch went a long way towards delicious ice cream, falafel and wholesome Israeli food. We thanked Hashem for the lovely day we had so far at the Kotel where we davened Mincha. (Keep Kotel in mind- it's a hint to our last activity of the day!) Simcha, our tour guide, brought us to many special places hidden within the Arab quarter. We bravely walked through the Arab shuk, well protected by our gunman to see the archway that leads right to the Har Habayis. We also visited the home of a Frum family in the Arab section and the 2,000 year old monument- Yad Avshalom. We got to rest up in the old city while we waited for our night activity to begin. Mrs. Swerdlov was a great guide in the tunnel tours and we all learned so much about the history of the Kotel. It was so special to say tehillim in the closest spot to the Beis Hamidkash! We had such a busy day and are so excited to see what's in store for tomorrow!!!
